Botox and Dermal Fillers

Botox and dermal fillers are used to rejuvenate the face where wrinkles and fine lines appear. Dermal fillers can also be used to augment, or enhance, features of the face for a desired look.

There are a variety of fillers available to you, including lip fillers, depending on what area of the face is being treated and the amount of correction needed. Our Master Injector, Naunie Maddox, who is a former injector trainer, has over a decade of experience, and she has the unique ability to use Botox and dermal fillers in our Franklin, TN, office with advanced techniques.

Botox
Ritz Med Spa offers Botox in our Franklin, TN, office. Botox is an injectable formula that’s used to relax and target wrinkles. Botox temporarily relaxes muscles in the face that cause wrinkles, which means that you’ll stop creating new lines and reinforcing established ones. Botox is FDA approved for the treatment of moderate to severe frown lines (between your brows), crow’s feet, and forehead lines in adults.
Botox lasts for between three and four months in most patients.
Dermal fillers are injectable formulas that add volume to the face. They’re often used to correct deep facial wrinkles or facial folds caused by volume loss due to age, like the nasolabial folds (parenthesis lines on the sides of the nose and mouth). Dermal fillers can also be used to add volume in areas to augment or enhance a feature. For example, many patients opt for dermal lip fillers to achieve a fuller, poutier look.
It depends on the dermal filler. Most dermal fillers last for anywhere from six months to a year. It also depends on where the filler is placed and how your body metabolizes the filler. Certain fillers, like Juvederm® Voluma, can last for as long as two years, and Bellafill is FDA approved to last five years. Ritz Med Spa offers a variety of dermal fillers, and we are happy to recommend the option that will meet your beauty goals.
Yes. You can have Botox and fillers together, and they can be done in the same appointment, if desired. Botox is best suited for correction of the fine lines and wrinkles that occur due to muscle movement, and dermal fillers are best suited for correction of wrinkles that occur due to volume loss. Each product has its own unique use, but when used in combination, they allow for all types of wrinkles and lines to be corrected.
With Botox, results can be seen anywhere from several days to a week. Dermal fillers take effect immediately, and you’ll see results before you even leave the Ritz Med Spa office.

Each person reacts differently, but there may be some swelling, that will subside. Because these treatments can take several visits to perfect your look, we do not recommend having these treatments performed too close to a special event, especially if you have not used Botox or dermal fillers in the past.

Thread Lifts

As we age, we lose collagen, fat, and bone in our face resulting in loose, sagging skin. If you want to subtly improve your appearance, without undergoing a facelift or liposuction procedure, a thread lift can help you reach your aesthetic goals. Often, thread lifts are combined with Botox and dermal fillers to achieve a natural, rejuvenated look.

Ritz Med Spa is one of very few offices in the Nashville area to offer thread lifts. Reach out to us to learn more about how thread lifts can help you achieve your beauty goals.

After numbing, polydioxanone (PDO) sutures are injected into the desired treatment area, under the skin. These PDO sutures are composed of polydioxanone threads, a material used in many medical procedures. The sutures are used to physically pull back, lift, and tighten the skin. This initial lift of the skin produces beautiful results that are immediately noticeable to our clients.

Threads also stimulate a selective inflammatory response, which triggers the body’s natural healing process. As part of this healing process, the body produces new collagen proteins and strengthens of existing ones. Collagen is one of the most important components of the skin and is responsible for how smooth, tight, and youthful-looking the skin is. As time passes after your initial treatment, the results of this selective inflammatory response gradually produce beautiful, more dramatic looking skin rejuvenation.

The thread lift procedure is ideal for clients that have slight sagging in the jawline, neck, or body, but are not ready to undergo a full-blown facelift procedure. Individuals with excessive amounts of drooping in the skin may need to undergo a more comprehensive procedure that focuses on removing excess skin rather than tightening and lifting it.

A thread lift is an excellent way for you to improve the appearance of your skin without surgery or extensive downtime. Contact the team at Ritz Med Spa to determine if you are a candidate for thread lift.

Venus Viva

Venus Viva is a Radio Frequency Micro-needling treatment that improves the appearance of wrinkles, uneven skin textures, acne scars, stretch marks, and some hyperpigmentation. If you want a skin resurfacing treatment without a lot of downtime, a series of three Venus Viva treatments may be right for you. For no additional charge, we add PRP, which significantly improves the treatment results and recovery.

Questions about Venus Viva? Find out more by contacting Ritz Med Spa.

Venus Viva

The downtime after a Venus Viva procedure depends on how aggressive of a treatment you and your aesthetician determine will meet your beauty needs. Your downtime will also depend on how sensitive your skin is, but most of our clients are red for only 24 hours. For the first 24 hours after your treatment, you should avoid sun exposure, rigorous exercise, saunas, and your regular skin care routine.

Combining radio frequency and microneedling with PRP produces much better results than microneedling with PRP alone. Radio Frequency is able to penetrate the skin and stimulate collagen in a more effective and deeper way than microneedling on its own.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing delivers highly focused beams of light and intense heat to resurface the skin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, sun spots, scars, sagging lax skin, small blood vessels, and other skin concerns. This type of laser skin rejuvenation stimulates the body to start making new collagen. As a result, over time deeper facial folds and scars will be filled in, creating a more smooth and youthful appearance.

For moderate to severe skin issues, Ritz Med Spa uses an ablative laser system, called the SmartSkin CO2 Fractional Micro Ablative Laser. For mild to moderate skin concerns, Ritz Med Spa uses a non-ablative laser system, called the Icon 1540 Fractional Laser.

Connect with us to learn more about laser skin care benefits for your beauty needs.

The SmartSkin laser sends a series of highly focused small lasers into the skin. This effectively targets dead and damaged skin. The body’s own natural healing abilities will then kick in to allow fresh and healthy new skin to take its place. As the fresh skin is revealed, collagen production is stimulated, deep under the skin. Most patients need only one SmartSkin treatment; however, you can split the treatment up into two or three less aggressive sessions.
After any laser treatment for your face, your skin will feel quite warm and will appear red. Some amount of minor bleeding and swelling is normal. You will need some downtime to properly recover from SmartSkin treatment, with five days being an average recovery time. Each case is different, so the team at Ritz Med Spa is happy to help you plan your recovery.
Non-ablative skin resurfacing is a laser skin resurfacing treatment that minimizes skin concerns, like large pore size, fine lines, and minor acne scars. While this non-invasive procedure doesn’t remove skin tissue like ablative lasers do, the Icon fractional laser is effective for reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Non-ablative skin resurfacing is done over a series of treatments, so results take longer to achieve, but don’t have the downtime of a CO2. Contact our team to learn more about choosing the right type of skin resurfacing for your beauty needs.

As with most laser treatments for your face, you should avoid sun exposure and harsh chemicals on your face for two to four days. Our aestheticians also recommend that you use high-quality moisturizers to protect your skin as you heal. Most of our clients are ready to return to their normal beauty routine in two to four days.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

Intense pulsed light (IPL), also known as a Photofacial, is a broad-spectrum light that treats pigment, especially brown spots and sun damage, redness, rosacea, and broken capillaries. Intense pulsed light is a very common laser treatment that many of our clients request all over their bodies, including the face, neck, décolleté, hands, and arms. Contact our team for more information or to schedule a consultation.

Intense pulsed light is a non-invasive procedure that typically takes several treatments for clients to see results. Most of our patients request a series of three treatments, scheduled one month apart.

For instance, if you are treating brown spots with IPL, after your treatment, the brown spots will darken in a few days to a week, eventually revealing a more even skin tone. Or, if you are treating rosacea and broken capillaries with IPL, the skin laser treatment will cause your body to break down and remove the damaged tissue.

Unfortunately, IPL works by targeting the pigment in your skin, so we do not recommend intense pulsed light for darker skin tones. Our clients with melasma are not candidates, as IPL can worsen this condition.

Pellevé

Pellevé is an aesthetic skin treatment used to improve the appearance of facial lines, wrinkles, and loss of elasticity. Our Pellevé treatment uses radiofrequency energy to heat the deeper layers of skin, prompting fresh collagen production and skin tightening. Pellevé is a non-invasive skin resurfacing treatment that requires no downtime, which makes it a popular solution for our clients with aging skin. Contact our team to learn more about Pellevé, or to schedule a consultation.

First, your aesthetician will apply a conductive gel to the treatment area. The gel has two purposes: it improves your comfort level, and it helps the radiofrequency energy reach the target skin cells more effectively.

A small handheld treatment wand is then applied to your skin, causing you to feel a deep warmth. Most patients find the warmth quite comfortable, but if you start to experience any discomfort, just let your practitioner know, and she will make changes to improve your comfort.

When the radiofrequency energy reaches the deeper layers of your skin, the body will be encouraged to create more collagen. This new collagen production will begin right away and will continue over the coming weeks.

The entire skin treatment is complete in under an hour, and it may be as short as 30 minutes.

Most Ritz Med Spa clients experience the greatest benefit from three treatment sessions, but you may see some significant improvements after your very first session. Each treatment is planned about one month apart to allow time for new collagen growth.

No. Pellevé requires no recovery time, because this skin rejuvenation treatment is able to access the deeper layers of skin to start the repair process without harming the top layer of skin in any way. Some clients report mild skin irritation and temporary swelling, but these symptoms will usually resolve within just hours. Most of our clients can go on with their days immediately.

Most of our Pellevé patients maintain positive results at six-months post treatment. To maintain your best results, our team recommends that you schedule touch-up Pellevé sessions once or twice each year.
